Official information for Åndalsnes and Romsdalen since 1930

See before you, mighty mountains that represent the eternal, safe and unchangeable. Close your eyes and feel the wind blowing through your hair as you are wandering off over plateau landscapes. Welcome to Dovre.

In the horizon you can see a flock of wild reindeers grazing. And right there, by the foot of Snøhetta, is a big, brown woolen creature lumping off. You have just seen a muskox – That’s the kind of wild experience Dovre can offer you!

By driving up the mighty Romsdalen valley, up to Gudbrandsdalen and Dombås, you are able to reach Dovre. Most parts of the municipality are national parks and protected land such as Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park that includes Snøhetta. You can also find Dovre National Park and Fokstumyra Bird Sanctuary here. In this area you are able to experience huge, almost untouched natural areas and rare plants, birds and animals.
